We are very much interested in rethinking defi nitions of housing and energy as well as spatial relationships between people and the structures they interact with everyday, whether it be a retail store or the place they call home, garden, yard, street, block, neighborhood. Our proposal is for the Brightmoor neighborhood for several reasons. We have heard that there is substantial interest within the Brightmoor community for new sustainable design ideas. We are intrigued by the landscape of the neighborhood and the potential to work with local schools and existing artist-lead initiatives.
How do these elements combine to form community and what new models and networks can be explored and investigated to strengthen a sense of community? Our art practices exists in this realm of social dialogue and interaction rather than being passive or object-based. Therefore, our art practice is based on interacting with the neighborhood in which it is sited and active participation by those who work and live in proximity to the projects.
